Refunds and returns.

Different rules apply to digital licenses and physical prints. The shortest version: digital files are final once downloaded; prints are replaced or refunded if anything goes wrong.

Digital files are non-refundable once downloaded. Due to the digital nature of our products, all sales are final once the image has been downloaded. This is industry-standard for digital media and is required to prevent abuse of the licensing system.

01 Digital licenses

Once downloaded — final sale

The moment the licensed file is downloaded — whether through the on-screen link, the email link, or from your account dashboard — the sale is considered fulfilled and is non-refundable. Once the file leaves the studio’s servers and reaches your device, it cannot be “returned” in any meaningful sense, and the studio cannot verify whether copies remain on your systems.

This applies to all four digital tiers: Personal, Standard, Extended, and Editorial (where Editorial is free, “non-refundable” is moot — but the rule still applies if a fee was charged for elevated editorial resolution).

Before download — full refund within 30 days

If you have purchased a license but not yet downloaded the file from any of the delivery channels, you can request a full refund within 30 days of purchase. Email orders@celestialseedsstudio.com with your order ID; we will verify on our side that no download has occurred and refund within 5 business days to the original payment method.

“Download” includes any successful delivery of the master file: clicking the on-screen download button, opening the email link and receiving the file, or fetching it from the dashboard. Receiving the email itself, or visiting the order confirmation page, does not count as a download.

Exceptions — when we will refund a downloaded file

  • Duplicate purchase — you accidentally bought the same license twice within 24 hours. We refund the second order on request.
  • Unauthorised purchase — your card was used by someone other than you. Report it within 60 days; we cooperate with your bank’s chargeback process and provide order metadata.
  • Material defect — the file is corrupted, missing, or substantially differs from the displayed preview (e.g. wrong image, wrong resolution). We will first re-deliver a corrected file; if that’s not possible, we refund in full.
  • Image withdrawn after purchase — if the studio chooses to withdraw the image from the archive within 7 days of your purchase, we offer a full refund or a free swap to another image of equal or lesser tier.

Wrong license tier

If you purchased the wrong tier (e.g. Standard but needed Extended), we will credit the original amount toward the correct tier within 60 days. You only pay the difference; we don’t double-charge. Email orders@celestialseedsstudio.com before using the file in the wrong-tier scope.

02 Physical prints

Prints are made to order. The following return rules apply:

Damaged or defective prints — replaced free, 14 days

If your print arrives damaged, with a printing defect, or with a colour shift outside our archival tolerances, write within 14 days of delivery with photographs showing the issue. We will produce and ship a replacement at no charge — the original does not need to be returned.

Unwanted prints — change of mind, 14 days

As a courtesy, the studio offers a 14-day return window on unwanted prints — this is more generous than required by U.S. law. To return:

  • Email orders@celestialseedsstudio.com within 14 days of delivery.
  • Return the print in its original packaging, unhung and undamaged, at your expense.
  • Once we receive it, we refund the print price (excluding original shipping) within 10 business days.

The same window applies to all buyers worldwide.

Lost in transit

All prints ship insured via UPS. If a parcel does not arrive, write to us and we will open a trace with UPS, then either re-ship or refund within 21 days, whichever you prefer.

Custom and commissioned prints

Prints produced as part of a custom commission, custom size, or custom mounting service are final sale once production begins, except in the case of damage or defect.

03 How to request a refund or return

Email orders@celestialseedsstudio.com with:

  • Your order ID (in the receipt email).
  • The reason — duplicate, defect, change of mind, etc.
  • For prints: photos of the issue and the packaging if relevant.

We respond within two business days. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.

04 Chargebacks

If you suspect fraud or have a concern about a charge, please contact us before filing a chargeback with your bank. Most issues are resolved by direct refund within hours; chargebacks take 60–90 days, generate fees, and can briefly suspend your access to the archive while the dispute is open.
